Using A Grocery Price Book Is Cool
At hand is a wealth of many saving tips and ideas that you can use to fully take advantage of different ways to save at the grocery store. Coupons, rebates and more can save you a huge deal of cash. An additional tool that is rather underutilized these days it the grocery price book.
The idea of a price book is to collect valuable and historical information about prices that you can refer to when you see an advertised special. When you spot a sale you can immediately check the history and know if the sale is worthwhile. You can also keep track of the stores that offer you the best prices and which items can save you the most.
There are several ways to keep a price book and the best way to do it is however it will work best for you. You can just use a spiral bound notebook or even use an Excel spreadsheet to keep track of the prices and information.
The idea is to start keeping track of the price on your favorite products. When you have a reference as to what the normal price is you will quickly be able to determine if an advertised special is really a good deal and worth going out of your way for.
Now use the note pad or the worksheet to keep track of the prices that you pay for items. Save all of your grocery receipts for a few weeks and input the information on the prices that you paid. You might even want to note sales prices. It will not be long before you have a nice record of the typical unit prices of an item.
It is also a good idea to keep track of the date and the store that you shopped at. That way you will also have a good comparison of the stores in your vicinity. Shortly you will start to see the history and you will have a base for your comparison-shopping. It won’t take long for you to determine which stores typically have the lowest price. You will also be able to immediately compare the advertised sales prices to the regular prices you paid in the past.
Make sure that you keep your price book updated and that you carry it with you as you shop in order for it to be effective. It can be a great tool but only if you take advantage of it and use it. At the beginning it will take some time but after awhile it won’t take too much time at all and the information will prove to be important.
The more thorough information you can collect on your shopping habits the more money you can save in the long run for the reason that you will be able to truly know if an advertised sale is truly a great deal and you can also combine the information with your coupons and rebates.
