The Modern Linen Suit Also Worn By Tutankhamun
Modern day clothing is made out of many different types of fabrics. The linen suit is one example. Some of the fabrics go back in time. For example, wool was first used when the caveman killed a woolly mammoth, ate the meat and then used the skin to make fashionable yet practical clothing for himself and his family.
Linen is made from flax plant fibers. It is a manufactured material and although it can be difficult to manufacture when it is a finished fabric it is very easy to make into a man’s suit that remains light and cool in the summer months.
The roots of linen go back thousands of years. The ancient Egyptians sometimes used it as currency. The wealthier Egyptians wore linen when mummified. Linen has a very long and interesting history.
Linen clothes are usually of a casual type. This includes men’s suits. It is a fabric that tends to wrinkle easily during the course of a day’s wear so using it for a business suit is not always very practical.
If a man is on a vacation a linen suit is generally a suit of choice. No matter if you are in the southern U.S., South America, Cuba, France or Italy the stylish look of a linen suit and the coolness of the fabric is a perfect selection.
Ireland and Italy have linen fabric that is highest in demand. The former is heavier but of a finer quality so therefore it is less likely to wrinkle. Unfortunately it is not as cool though in the hot summer months. In Ireland this is not something to be real concerned about though.
Because of the type of use to which linen suits are preferred (mainly casual), its rarely necessary to buy a made to measure garment. It is therefore quite feasible to purchase “off the peg”.
Bargains can be had as well due to their mainly seasonal reputation. Towards the end of the summer months, its possible to buy a beautiful linen suit at a knock down price, especially so in stock clearance sales as retailers rush to get their winter collections on display.
